Communicating Science - Workshop Follow-Up

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), in partnership with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and San Jose State University Research Foundation, held a successful one-day workshop entitled "Communicating Science: Tools for Scientists and Engineers" on the SJSU campus. An agenda for the day's proceedings can be found here: PDF

NSF and other funding agencies are increasingly encouraging researchers to extend beyond peer-reviewed publishing and communicate their results directly to the greater public. Further, scientists and engineers who foster information-sharing and respect between science and the public are essential for the public communication of and engagement with science. This workshop was aimed at scientists, engineers, and students to help them learn more about communicating science to news media and the general public.

AAAS has created a website that provides many of the tools that were featured in our workshop. Please go to http://communicatingscience.aaas.org for more information.
