Dr. Louis Guin Biography

At the SJSU Research Foundation
Dr. Louis Guin has more than thirty years of experience in all aspects of indirect cost analysis, cost reimbursement, cost distribution models, cost allocation plans, and federal rate proposals. His clientele has consisted of numerous CSU campuses, universities across the U.S., and medical institutions including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the Los Angeles BioMedical Research Institute.

For ten years, Dr. Guin has served as a faculty member at the National Association of Colleges and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Workshop on F&A Cost Rate Proposal Development. He serves as a faculty member for the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) Fundamentals of Research Administration program and is a lecturer on costing methodologies and cost optimization strategies at the University of Oklahoma Center for Grant and Contract Studies.
Dr. Guin is also a frequent speaker at NCURA meetings, SRA conferences, NECA, NACA, and WECA, and has lectured at USC’s Graduate School of Business. He recently coauthored an article for NACUBO’s Business Officer magazine on the effects of stimulus funding on F&A rates.
Dr. Guin holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Decision Systems from the University of Southern California, as well as an MBA, and an M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
